Strikes, Smiles, and Support: Kiwanis Club of Fountain Valley Treats Students to a Night Out
When you’re working hard to stay in school and build a better future, a simple night out can mean the world. Recently, the Kiwanis Club of Fountain Valley gave Robyne’s Nest students exactly that—a special evening of bowling, pizza, and gift cards that left our teens smiling long after the last pin fell.
A Night to Just Be a Teen
For many of our students, opportunities to relax and have fun with friends are rare. Between school, jobs, and family responsibilities, there isn’t always time—or money—for outings.
That’s why this bowling night was so meaningful. The Kiwanis Club covered the lanes, provided plenty of pizza and drinks, and surprised students with gift cards so they could pick up a little something just for themselves. For a few hours, our teens got to simply be teenagers: laughing, cheering each other on, and celebrating every strike and spare.
More Than Bowling: A Message of Belonging
Yes, there was friendly competition, slices of pizza disappearing fast, and lots of photos snapped at the lanes. But underneath the fun was a powerful message: you matter, and your community is in your corner.
Moments like these help our students feel seen and supported. When a local service club invests time and resources into creating a joyful experience, it tells our teens that they are worth showing up for—that they belong here, and that adults in their community are rooting for their success.
Community Partners Who Show Up
The Kiwanis Club of Fountain Valley has been a steady friend to Robyne’s Nest and to the youth we serve. From providing resources to creating experiences like this bowling night, they consistently show what it looks like when a community rallies around its young people.
Those blue Kiwanis bags our students took home weren’t just swag—they were a visible reminder that a local club took the time to pour into them. The gift cards weren’t just practical help—they were a chance for each student to choose something that made them feel valued.
We’re incredibly grateful to the Kiwanis members who planned, hosted, and funded this event. Their generosity helped create a safe, fun space where our students could relax, connect, and make memories together.
Why These Moments Matter for Robyne’s Nest Students
Robyne’s Nest supports high school students in our community who are facing housing insecurity, unstable home environments, or other serious challenges that can put graduation at risk. We focus on meeting basic needs, providing academic and emotional support, and surrounding students with caring adults who won’t give up on them.
Events like this, bowling night, are an important part of that support. They:
Build students’ confidence and sense of belonging.
Give them a break from daily stress and uncertainty.
Strengthen relationships with peers and trusted adults.
Show them, in a tangible way, that their community believes in their future.
When students feel cared for, they’re more likely to stay engaged in school and keep moving toward graduation.
Together, we can create more nights like this, where students feel the joy of being celebrated, the comfort of community, and the hope of knowing that people are invested in their journey.
Thank you, Kiwanis Club of Fountain Valley, for making this unforgettable night possible and for standing beside our students, on and off the lanes.
