Thank You - NCL Newport Chapter
Mental health support can look like many things, a safe place to land, a friendly face, or a small reminder that you’re not alone. Thanks to the generosity of the National Charity League, Newport Chapter (NCL Newport), students supported by Robyne’s Nest just received all of that wrapped up in one thoughtful package.
A Gift of Care and Calm
Recently, NCL Newport members assembled special mental health bags for students in our program. Each bag is filled with simple, meaningful tools to help teens pause, breathe, and reset when life feels overwhelming.
Each mental health bag includes:
A journal or notebook (with pen) for reflection and self-expression
A coloring book and colored pencils to encourage creativity and calm
A fidget spinner and stress ball for sensory grounding
Stickers and rings to add a little joy
A sweet treat — Sour Patch Kids
A Starbucks gift card so students can enjoy a drink or snack in a welcoming space
These items may seem small, but together they send a powerful message to our students: you matter, and your mental health matters too.
Students Who Feel Seen and Supported
The mental health bags arrived at just the right time for many of our students who are juggling school, jobs, family responsibilities, and the emotional weight of instability at home. For youth who often lack consistent parental support, a gesture like this can be a turning point — a reminder that their community is rooting for them.
Seeing rows of sunshine-themed bags lined up and the care put into each one made it clear: NCL Newport didn’t just donate supplies; they invested time, heart, and intention in every detail.
Why Community Partnerships Matter
At Robyne’s Nest, we believe in breaking cycles and changing lives by surrounding students with the resources and relationships they need to thrive. Partnerships like this one with NCL Newport help us:
Provide practical tools students can use to manage stress and anxiety.
Show students they are valued by their wider community, not just by our staff.
Build a culture where mental health is recognized and supported, not ignored.
When students feel emotionally and academically supported, they are more likely to stay engaged in school, graduate, and move confidently into what’s next.
Thank You, NCL Newport
To the NCL Newport members and families: thank you for seeing our students, for prioritizing their mental health, and for choosing to pour your creativity and care into this project. Your kindness helps create a brighter path for students in Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, and across our partner districts.
